week 11

This week I was unfortunately unable to make it along to this class, I have instead at home kept working on my finals. I am really happy with my progress and am really excited to share my final pieces to the class. I feel I have come so far since the start where I had no idea where I wanted to go with my passion for fashion. where I have come since then has kept fashion but I have added a twist.

I tried to think of an idea that I could use video for but I was just stumped I however enjoyed watching the video art of artists and found some real interest in it. I was glad I was able to learn about how to use the programs and maybe i could use them for future reference.

Hopefully all of my finals work out the way that i can see in my head, and if they do i am very excited to share them.

week ten

this week i was able to learn about how to use final cut. this is a program that i have never heard of or used. even though none of my finals are going to be vidoes i have enjoyed learning about how to use to program just for future reference. it seems to be a little complicated but just like every program you will get used to it.

working on my finals i am really happy with how they are looking, the invitation that i made using the collage technique that we learn't in photoshop is looking great, it is now finished and printed on gloss paper. my other final that i have finished is the three matte photographs that i had frame in mount board. i really like the mood of these as they are black and white and really dark, but the mask is in full colour.

the next final that i am going to finish is going to be my triptych where i will print my edited images onto iron transfer paper and iron them onto material and stretch a canvas out of it.

week nine

Unfortunately this week i was unable to attend the art class, but i was able to continue on with my work at home. i have decided to make a kind of 3D image with half being matt and half being gloss. to do this i have decided that i will edit an image of a girl in a mask and edit it twice. once making it with dull colours and not very focussed, the next one with be very vibrant and crisp. with this i will have the dull image on the bottom then onto i will have jut the mask cut out and mounted up on bits of foam onto the dull image to look like she is taking the mask off, or its coming off. this looks really good in my head and i dont know if i have described it well. hopefully i can full it off and it looks as good as a final as it does in my head.
for this idea was inspired when i was looking at just regular novels in the book shop and i noticed that alot of the covers had just specific sections that were glossy, this made me think about how i could interpret this into my work. so from that i came up with the above idea.

week eight

Todays lesson i got to see other peoples ideas and where they were going with their folio. i also presented my ideas and one of my finals. i feel it went well and i was i was abl to get feedback from others and yourself (Jenna) i think im on the right track with my work which is a good feeling and i have come up with ideas that i didnt think i would be able to.

Todays lesson didnt really goes as planned as i didnt bring a tape for the video camera and was unable to participate in the lesson. so today i was able to just continue on with my folio and works, i like having time in class to be able to continue my work as at home i have an older version on photo shop and is quite slow, so i value the time i have to work on my finals in class.

As for my video i am still stuck on an idea that i could use so i still need to get in the mind space of thinking about how i could incorporate my theme and message into video.

week seven

Today's lesson was more on the corel painter X program, as i stated last week i really dont have any intention to use this program, but it is also very interesting to learn about the different techniques and styles that this program offers you.

After having a play with the Corel program and making a moving "cartoonish" image, i went back to my finals. Today i was working on three different photos i had taken of just a close up fave with three different masks on, my message behind this was no matter how many times you change yourself you are never going to be truly happy until you are just being yourself.
I took these images just in front of a white wall so what i really want to do it make the backgrounds black and have a spotlight coming from which ever corner or side that the girl is looking at. I have tried playing with this idea today on Photo shop but i still havn't achieved it to the extent that i would like, this is something that i have to work on to perfect it before it can be a final, i feel that it will just look tacky if i don't achieve what i'm visioning in my head.

Hopefully i can work on this more at home and be able to achieve the look that im going for.

week six

This weeks lesson i learn't something totally new to me. we worked with corel painter, and used a pad/tablet for all our drawing and mouse work. this was very hard to get used to. i really like how the program gives u so many different opportunities and allows you to work how you would originally like to without having to find different ways to do something like on photo shop, this program you can draw freely with your own hand. i dont really think i will do a final using this program as it will be difficult to work on as i dont have the program at home or the pad and pen. so essentially i would shave to finish the final today and i really dont believe that it is possible for me to do that. it takes me a long time to perfect something to considering that this lesson i am just learning about how to use the program, and next week i would be starting or continuing on with a piece, i just don't see myself being able to finish the piece.

after having a play with this program i have decided to go back to photo shop and continue with my finals. over the week i have taken photos of a friend in the types of poses that i have detailed previously. unfortunately i wasn't able to get the type of dress that i was visioning, but i was able to get a dress of a deep moody purple colour which i feel expresses the pieces well.

next week i hope to just continue on with my finals and strt with a new one, i want to focus on just the face with the mask on.

week five

This weeks lesson was all about collage, the digital way. in this lesson i learn t things about photoshop that i was not aware of in the past. i tried uploading my collage that i have been working on but it wouldn't let me. what i was working on today was creating a collage of images over a template of a plain full face mask. i was able to mix and match photos from clubs, the beach and really anything fun, all these photos will be overlapped and shaped into a mask. the message from this will be something along the lines of, this is what life holds for you if you take off the mask and let yourself be free to be who you really are.

i also want to do this idea in a 3D form. to do this i will print images onto iron on transfers, transfer the images onto calico material. i will use a sort of paper mashay type of technique to apply the images in a collage way over a porcelain or plaster plain, full face mask.

week four

Week four was all about exploring photographs, and using photoshop. I have used photoshop alot in the past with school so i feel really confident with it. i am really excited to be using it again, as i had alot of fun with it.

today i have thought of a knew idea for a final, but i dont know if it can only be one final or more but i have an idea to do a triptich, a girl will be in gown and mask looking depressed, sitting on the ground with the dress puffed up around her arms. the second will be a girl in a gown but with no mask but not looking at the camera, she will be slouched across a chair with her back towards the camera and her arms and head resting on the head on the chair, the dress will be drapped all over the chair. and in the third i was thinking maybe she will be standing looking at the camera with no mask.
the story behind these will be the girl who is affraid to be herself, shes hiding behind a mask, then not showing her face, then showing who she is. also in each picture she will be getting higher as in her confidence, in the first she is on the ground, second she is sitting on a chair and third she is standing.

week three

This week was all about mobile phone art, and how to recieve art via bluetooth, unfortunantly for me my phone for some reason would not connect to the computer. i used this lesson for further research into my topic and how to make it more than just a topic, but to have meaning. I'm now thinking along the lines of focusing on masquerade balls and the message being something like not hiding behind a mask to be someone your not. With this message i just need to figure out how i'm going to work it into my art work and how to display it. I have one idea that i will get photos of people having fun and make a collage pf them all over a mask , having the meaning that this could be you if you weren't hiding behind the mask.
Obviously i have a lot of thinking to do about my art works but hopefully they will turn out great.

Today's lesson was more about all the possibilities of how you can manipulate a photo and display it on your phone, even though i was unable to fully experience how to do it, i was still able to follow the steps of how to set the computer and my phone, which i was unaware of previously.

week two

This week I explored using adobe illustrator. I have used the program previously in high school but not extensively, so learning all the basics again was a good recap from a few years ago. I have been thinking about what my folio of work will be based on, I like the idea of Milan fashion week an the masquerade ball and all the different types of fashion and masks that comes with them, I want to be able to incorporate the two together some how but I am yet to think of a message to go with the theme, so that is something i really need to think about.

Next week I hope to have more of a set idea on what I want to do for my folio and i am keen to learn more on how to make my folio to the best possible standard with the programs I am learning about.

Today in illustrator we learnt about text and how to manipulate it, to make it your own, which i found different and challenging yet i am satisfied with what i achieved.

week one

Week one was a good introduction to the class, i was able to learn about the different resources that the university had on offer and also what this course will entail.
From this class I am hoping to gain an understanding of the use of apple macs and how to use them. I am hoping to let my creative side out and create some really inspirational work for myself and others, using a range of different resources.

I have chosen this piece of art as its so very different from classic art, it has bright colours, it has a theme, and it moves!
This piece is inspirational to me as i would love to learn how to create something that has motion to it.
